Patching your Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
This is a quick summary of what updates should be installed when you install (Or wish to update) RCT3. First it is most important to install any expansions in the correct order. When installing the expansions, it must be in this order: RCT3 --> Soaked --> Wild If you already have Wild and purchase Soaked at a later date, then you should uninstall RCT3 first, and re-install in the above order. Important! Before uninstalling RCT3 always back up your My Documents\RCT3. While the uninstall shouldn't affect any of your saves, it is always best to be safe rather than sorry. RCT3 Updates The RCT3 updates should never be installed if you have any expansion pack already installed. Generally it is best to use the auto-updater to apply any updates, but if you prefer to do it manually refer to the list below. Note that all updates for the US versions of RCT3 can be found at: ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/rct3/ When applying updates it is important to have the correct version, to check your version number, right click on the RCT3.exe file (you will find it in the installation folder for RCT3) and select properties. The version number is also available if you look in the about window in game. To select the correct update compare the version number with the list below: US Versions Use the links provided to update RCT3 to the latest version: No update - ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/...PDATE3_USA.EXE (111MB) Update 1 - ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/...PDATE3_USA.EXE (108MB) Update 2 - ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/...PDATE3_USA.EXE (108MB) Update 3 Other Territories Currently you must contact Atari technical support directly to obtain Update 3. European users should use the link below: http://www.uk.atari.com/index.php?pg=form Note There is a workaround for applying the US Update 3 to a non-US version of RCT3. This workaround should be used at your own risk, but can be found at http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...d.php?t=515401 RCT3 Gold The RCT3 Gold update is for the US version only, the EU version is a repackaged RCT3 and Soaked and should contact Atari technical support for the Soaked update. The RCT3 Gold update can be downloaded from the link below: ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/rct...PDATE1_USA.EXE Soaked Updates The Soaked update should only be installed if you have RCT3 and Soaked - not if you have Wild as well. US Version The US update for Soaked can be downloaded from the link below: ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/rct...PDATE1_USA.EXE (43.3MB) Other Territories Currently you must contact Atari technical support directly to obtain the Soaked update. European users should use the link below: http://www.uk.atari.com/index.php?pg=form Note There is a workaround for applying the Soaked update to a non-US version of RCT3. This workaround should be used at your own risk, but can be found at http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...d.php?t=515401 Wild Updates The Wild updates should only be installed if you have the Wild expansion. The Wild updates will work with any territorial version. Note that Wild automatically includes both Update 3 for RCT3 and the Soaked update. There are 3 Wild updates, Wild Update 1 addresses an issue causing excessive slowdown at night. Wild Update 2 fixes a problem with the auto-updater. Wild update 3 addresses a copy protection related issue causing slowdown in various construction modes - note this update is not available from the auto-updater utility. Use the links below to download the updates: Wild Update 1 - ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/...PDATE1_USA.EXE (7.53MB) Wild Update 2 - ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/...PDATE2_USA.EXE (17MB) Wild Update 3 - http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7 (15MB) Note This post is for information only, I will be locking this thread as it is not intended for discussion. If you require further help with any of the updates then you should either post in the Help and Technical Support forum or contact Atari technical support directly. Discussion about the updates should be in the General Discussion forum. Source of information by and credited to: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=514212 |
