The first news of the new 'Coaster Tycoon game, was released late February. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 was the next game in line for the popular Rollercoaster Tycoon series, which had a popular first game (RCT1) developed by Chris Sawyer. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 was developed by 'Frontier', and published by 'Atari'. A Press Release was sent out by Atari on the 3rd of March 2004 announcing a thrilling new sequel to the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. Information was released at several games sites, along with the first set of images for the game.

New articles started to come out with the features of the new game. People were excited with the line up, with the game including a sandbox option, firework displays, 3D graphics, RideCam, day/night cycles, reflective water and a whole lot of new rides and rollercoasters.
