RCT3 : Soaked History
News on Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 : Soaked was first discovered early January 2005 when EBgames listed the game as up and coming, however it wasn't called Soaked, for a while, the game was known as Cape Typhoon. However, as time got around, the name Soaked was associated with the 1st expansion and when Atari released a page on their website with this, it confirmed the name. The page which Atari released was temporary but a lot
of people saw it and were impressed by the line up of features which the game
had to offer and it was clear that people we excited "a very, very, VERY
happy RCT fan". The first 'artwork' from the game was released with the
Soaked logo and what looked to be in-game footage in the background (see image
left). People on RCT forums were buzzing, and so was I! This looked and sounded
like an amazing expansion pack to a #1 selling game. More information on this game was released on various gaming sites, including screenshots, videos and interviews. Screenshots were analysed on forums finding loads of new additions to the game, including the half pipe coaster, white water rapids, changing rooms and loads more. Friday screenshots appeared. These were screenshots which were released every Friday, by David B, with the first one on the 25th of February 2005, this can be found Here. On the 1st of April there were no screenshots, but the Sizzle video was released. Watch the video here at RCT3X, check out the media page Here. A BETA test was announced for RCT3 Soaked, allowing a selection of people to test out the game, before it was released. The aim was to find as many bugs as possible, to they could be removed for the final version. Many people wanted to be in the BETA test and a private forum was set up for the successful applicants. BETA testers submitted their own screenshots, which would be released on Fridays by David B, and the 1st set were released on the 6th of May 2005. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Soaked was released late June 2005 and a Press Release was submitted on the 22. Since then, the game has become very successful and loved my most RCT3 fans! |
