RCT3 : Wild History

The first news of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 : Wild was back in June 2005 when several websites reported a 2nd expansion for the popular Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (RCT3) series. Rumours were that the game would be based on animals and safari's, hint the name Wild, however, these were all rumours, as RCT3 Soaked was code named Cape Typhoon.

RCT3 Wild was confirmed early July 2005 when screenshots were released (top left) as well as several articles. Members on various forums were comparing the game with Zoo Tycoon, "RCT3 meets Zoo Tycoon". A press release was released by Atari on the 18th of July and can be found Here.

But as more news and screenshots were released, peoples opinions started to change on the game, "Wow....this looks like its going to be a great add", "Im looking forward to more news and screens for RCT3:Wild!".

The Atari Community saw the return of the Friday Screenshots showing the impressive Giant Ferris Wheel and some animals which the game has to offer. Check it out Here. RCT3X then showed off several new shots, which can all be found in our gallery. Another press release was announced on the 17th of August and can be found Here.

The RCT3 Community then got the news that there would be a BETA test for the game, as with RCT3 Soaked, alot of people were interested in taking place. Those who were selected to take part in the BETA had a private forum to discuss the game, along with a Bug Data base where all bugs and problems could be reported. Screenshots were then released by Atari, of screenshots submitted by the BETA testers, an example of an image by a BETA tester is this shot (above).

We also got the chance to interview Michael Brookes and Ken Allen during the build up to the release of RCT3 Wild. These interviews can be found on out Interviews page Here.

A press release was announced on the 20th of October (read Here) to mark the date that Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Wild! had gone Gold, meaning that the game was finished and ready to be shipped to retailers. The game was released on the 4th of November to a warm reception!
