From the 2D graphics of Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 has evolved into a new gaming experience.

RCT1, released in 1999 by one man, Chris Sawyer, and went to #1 in the gaming charts. No game for the PC was like RCT! 2 expansions were released for RCT, Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes.

RCT2 was announced on the 25th of April 2002. RCT2 featured more options, scenery, rides, no 3D graphics though. RCT2 featured 'Six Flags' parks and Rollercoasters including 'X'. 2 expansions were also released for RCT2, Wacky Worlds and Time Twister. Many people thought RCT1 was better than RCT2, thinking that RCT2 was more of an add-on, not really a new game. Although it did introduce wall pieces, more scenery, station buildings, more coaster elements. RCT2 had different scenario levels, which weren't unlock-able, like RCT1, which lost the feel of being a 'Tycoon'. However, as the game has gone through the years, more and more has being added. New coasters, new rides, more scenery and RCT3 was no exception!

With the first news announced March 04, RCT fans were seeing a new side of Rollercoaster Tycoon. RCT3X opened, keeping fans informed about RCT3 and the new 3D graphics. More news was released! 'Coaster Cam', Fireworks, new rides, scenery, Rollercoasters, but no Tunnels! RCT3 Soaked, the 1st expansion was released with the addition of tunnels and water parks. RCT3 Wild was released a while after, adding zoos and animals to the game as well as new coasters and rides. The future of Rollercoaster Tycoon has begun.
